BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball dropped game two of its series against UAB, 7-1, on Saturday night at Nick Denes Field.
The Blazers secured their seven runs in the first five innings of the game, with Lane Diuguid tossing 4.0 scoreless frames to close things out.
"Lane has been getting better and better," said head coach John Pawlowski. "We've put him in some situations where he's really started to see some improvement. I thought his changeup was very good today. That's what you hope for – you get four shutout innings from him and it saves your bullpen. No walks, two strikeouts – tremendous outing from Lane."
Luke Stofel earned the starting nod for WKU, surrendering six hits and seven runs while recording three strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. Diuguid then entered in relief, allowing just two hits to go along with two strikeouts in 4.0 frames of scoreless action.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied six hits, with two players producing multi-hit performances. Matthew Meyer led the way, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Tristin Garcia added a 2-for-4 outing.
