BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Tennis has added Indiana transfer Sayda Hernandez to the roster for the 2022-23 season, head coach Greg Davis announced Monday.
Hernandez comes to the Hill as a junior after competing for the Hoosiers the last two seasons. The Hilton Head, S.C., native primarily played at the 5-6 spots last year for IU.
"We're very excited to welcome Sayda to the Hill next fall," Davis said. "She is an experienced player who had a great deal of playing time in the Big Ten her previous two seasons. Sayda was a five-star recruit whose UTR ranking was around 10.2 coming out of high school, and I feel her best is ahead academically and athletically here at WKU."
Hernandez was rated a five-star prospect during her prep career and ranked as high as No. 47 in the nation in the 2020 class by tennisrecruiting.net.
She joins fellow incoming transfer Sunskrithi Damera (Sam Houston State) as newcomers for the Lady Toppers next season, along with returners Sofia Blanco, Paola Cortez, Rachel Hermanova, Samantha Martinez and Mariana Zegada.
