RUSTON, La. – WKU Baseball dropped its series finale to (RV) Louisiana Tech, 11-2, on Sunday afternoon at Pat Patterson Park.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third before the Bulldogs answered back in the bottom of the frame with seven runs to take control and earn the eventual victory.
"Louisiana Tech is a physical team and they got the ball up in the air a couple of times today," said head coach John Pawlowski. "In that third inning we had several things happen – not catching the ball, not making an accurate throw – then the next thing you know they hit a three-run homer and put up a bunch of runs really quickly. You just can't do that against good teams. They're a very good team and they played well this weekend."
Sean Bergeron earned the starting nod for the Hilltoppers, surrendering seven runs while recording a strikeout in 3.0 innings of work. WKU utilized Jake Kates, Mason Vinyard and Logan Bowen from there, with the trio combining to allow four runs (three earned) while striking out four in 5.0 frames, including a scoreless 3.0 innings from Kates.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied nine hits and one walk, matching the Bulldogs in hits for the game. Tristin Garcia led the way, hitting 2-for-4, while Justin Carlin added two RBI in contest.
