MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – WKU Baseball dropped its series finale to Middle Tennessee, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
After earning a 7-3 victory over the Blue Raiders on Saturday to even the series, the Hilltoppers were unable to came away with a win in the rubber match.
"We just have to continue to move forward," said head coach John Pawlowski. "Whether you win or lose, it's another day and another opportunity. We'll take in this series and figure out what we did well and what we didn't."
Cooper Hellman earned the starting nod for WKU, allowing four runs while striking out three in 2.2 innings. Hunter Crosby entered in the third, going on to toss 1.1 frames while surrendering one hit and one run to go along with three strikeouts. Luke Sinnard closed out the final 4.0 innings, allowing four hits and no runs while recording three strikeouts.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied nine hits and one walk. Ty Crittenberger led the squad with a 3-for-3 performance while adding one RBI and a walk.

The Hilltoppers will return home for a contest against Belmont at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 5 at Nick Denes Field.
