Putting up a career match in front of a 1,400 WKU crowd Thursday night for the conference regular season title, Matthews, a middle hitter from Indianapolis, put up a career-high 30 kills from the center against No. 21 Rice. Matthews operated on a .377 hitting clip, good for 37 points including tied for the school record, 13 blocks.
In her first season as the Hilltoppers' starting setter, Bauer collected a career-high 51 helpers in the five-set thriller, also posting a .500 hitting clip with seven offensive dumps/kills over the net. She tabbed on two service aces and five blocks, good for 11.5 points on the evening -- third best from WKU from the match.
On to the Conference Tournament, WKU hosts the championship for the first time since 2017 inside Diddle Arena. #1 seed Western Kentucky will face #8 seed Middle Tennessee on Friday, November 18, first serve is set for noon CT. The entire tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+.
