DALLAS — WKU President Dr. Timothy C. Caboni was selected as vice chair of the Conference USA Board of Directors Executive Committee at the league's summer meetings this week, C-USA has announced.
Â
Caboni was first selected to the league's Executive Committee in Summer 2019.
Â
The presidents of each of the league's member schools serve on the league's Board of Directors. Members of the Executive Committee help set league policy for the membership.
Â
"I am honored to have been elected vice chair the Conference USA Executive Committee," Caboni said. "After the past year, we have an even greater appreciation for the importance collegiate athletics has as a part of the total college experience for our students and student-athletes as well as community outreach and engagement. Being a part of Conference USA has elevated our national exposure and I look forward to working in this leadership role with other committee members in charting the league's future."
Â
Caboni recently completed his fourth year as university president on The Hill, where he quickly generated a renewed institutional focus on student-centeredness, applied research, recruitment, retention and growing partnerships within WKU's 27-county service region and beyond. Of particular importance to Caboni is WKU's responsibility to advance the City of Bowling Green, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the world by inspiring innovation, elevating communities and transforming lives.
Â
"The Executive Committee's selection of President Caboni as Vice Chair validates the respect he has garnered throughout Conference USA," Director of Athletics Todd Stewart said. "Dr. Caboni's leadership over the last two years on the Executive Committee has positively impacted the league during a crucial time for intercollegiate athletics while also enabling WKU to have a vital seat at the table on the conference's most relevant matters."
Â
Several key initiatives were launched during Caboni's first four years at WKU, including the Summer Scholars program, the Intercultural Student Engagement Center Academy, the Burch Institute, the First Year Village, the WKU Commons at Helm Library, the Opportunity Fund, The Innovation Campus, centralized advising and CAPE (Comprehensive Academic Program Evaluation).
