Longtime WKU Athletics administrator Craig Biggs is set to retire from The Hill this summer after 28 years with the university.
Biggs, a native of Columbia, Ky., has served as WKU's Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Administration since 2008. Before that, he acted as Associate Athletic Director of Facilities since 2006 after serving as the school's Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities since 2001.
Biggs was responsible for managing a $2 million budget for facilities and operations while coordinating and overseeing the Athletic Facilities department. He also oversaw game management and administered contractual services for concessions and catering, Coke and the NIKE and Learfield IMG College contract with the athletics department.
Biggs has also handled the planning and execution elements of both home and road postseason championships as well as bowl preparation for Hilltopper Football. Biggs, who served as the day-to-day point person for the renovation and expansion of Houchens-Smith Stadium and the renovation of E.A. Diddle Arena, has overseen capital construction projects totaling over $100 million dollars during his tenure.
He has also performed sport administration for the football and track and field programs, as well as oversaw the athletic training, strength and conditioning and equipment departments. Biggs also served as the licensing director for the university.
Biggs originally served as the Coordinator of Athletic Concessions in 1993, adding the title of Coordinator of Athletic Facilities a year later. He also served as Ticket Manager from 2008-10, overseeing the athletic department transfer to the Ticketmaster ticketing system.
He has served as the tournament director for several Sun Belt Conference, C-USA and NCAA championships held on the WKU campus during his tenure, and he has staffed numerous league championships outside of Bowling Green. He was also part of the NCAA's game management staff for women's basketball and golf postseason tournaments along with the 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in New Orleans.
On campus, Biggs has been part of more than a dozen committees, including serving on the University Trademark and Logo Redesign Committee as Chair of the group. He currently serves as the athletic department's Collegiate Licensing coordinator and has also represented the athletic department on the University Parking and Transportation Committee, University Master Plan Committee, University Emergency Policy Committee, Homecoming Planning Committee, Special Events Committee and Parents Weekend Committee.
