BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball players Moustapha Diagne and Jared Savage will participate this month in a cultural exchange basketball trip to Belize through the Sports Reach sports ministry program.

Diagne and Savage join an impressive list of WKU standouts who have traveled abroad with Sports Reach, including Justin Johnson, Nigel Snipes, T.J. Price, George Fant, A.J. Slaughter and Steffphon Pettigrew.

Johnson, who finished his Hilltopper career in 2017-18, traveled to both Belize and China with the program.

Participants on this year's trip, which runs from May 16-26, are scheduled to play six games against teams from the Belize National Elite Basketball League, along with a few local all-star teams from the across the country.

They'll also have the opportunity to lead basketball clinics for local children, as well as visit children's homes and churches. The players will get to experience some of the local culture by exploring Mayan ruins, snorkeling and cave tubing.

Diagne – a 6-foot-9 forward from Rufisque, Senegal – appeared in 20 games for the Hilltoppers as a redshirt sophomore, scoring 11 total points and averaging 1.6 rebounds per contest.
Savage – a 6-5 wing from Bowling Green, Ky., – sat out the 2017-18 season at WKU as a transfer from Austin Peay. He averaged 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds across his two seasons with the Governors, netting 109 of 290 attempts from 3-point range (37.6 percent).
