IRVING, Texas – Senior forward Ivy Brown has been named to the 2017-18 C-USA Women's Basketball InTouch Credit Union All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon, WKU's third student-athlete honored with a spot on the team since the 2014-15 season.
Brown, who picked up the All-Academic honor for the first time in her career, joins former teammates Kendall Noble and Micah Jones as recipients of the accolades since the Lady Toppers moved to C-USA. Both Noble (2016 and 2017) and Jones (2015 and 2017) captured All-Academic nods twice during their careers on The Hill. WKU has had at least one honoree in all four seasons as a member of the conference.
One of the top candidates for C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, Brown has established herself as one of the top post players in C-USA this season. The Hodgenville, Ky., native is just shy of averaging a double-double with 16.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and has collected a career-best 14 double-doubles this season, tied for the eighth-most in a single season in program history.
Brown leads all C-USA players in both total rebounds and offensive rebounds per game this season while also ranking second in both steals per game (2.4) and blocks per game (1.5). In addition to her post game, Brown has developed into a dangerous player on the perimeter, knocking down 51 of her 121 three-point attempts on the year for a .421 clip, the fourth-best mark among C-USA players.
WKU (21-6, 12-2 C-USA) is set to wrap up the 2017-18 regular season this weekend, taking on Southern Miss on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. before heading west to battle UTEP at 2 p.m. (CT) on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Toppers can claim the outright C-USA regular season championship for the second straight season with either two wins or a split and one UAB loss.
