INDIANAPOLIS - Former WKU tight end Jack Doyle has been named to the 2018 Pro Bowl roster, the NFL and Indianapolis Colts announced on Sunday.
Doyle, a four-year letterman from 2009-12, becomes the first former player in WKU history to be named a Pro Bowler, and he did it on the backing of a career season for the Colts, his first as the team's No. 1 tight end.
In 2017, Doyle had career-bests in receptions (80) and receiving yards (690) to go along with four touchdown receptions.
"(I) just try to do the same thing every week," Doyle said in a story on Colts.com. "Just try to get open and catch the ball when it comes to me. That's it. Same thing every week."
He ranked second among all NFL tight ends with his 80 receptions, which were also the second-most in a single season by a tight end in Colts franchise history, trailing only Dallas Clark's franchise-record 100 receptions set back in 2009. Doyle becomes the first Colts tight end to earn Pro Bowl accolades since Clark following that 2009 season.
On The Hill, Doyle tallied 162 receptions and 1,769 yards - both career records for a tight end. He helped lead WKU to it's first FBS bowl game during his senior campaign.
