Interview: OC Adams
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Through four weeks of the 2017 football season, WKU heads into its bye week with a 2-2 record. Offensive coordinator Junior Adams spoke to media following Tuesday's practice about what the Hilltopper offense has been able to produce and what he has learned from the first month of the season.
On the game-winning touchdown against Ball State:
"That's the way we want to finish the game. You know, two weeks ago against Louisiana Tech we didn't finish. We really harped on it all week, to finish the game with laser-focus, and we played with some good tempo and good speed at the end of that game. It's good to see the guys going into the bye week with the momentum that we have, and make corrections with a win under our belt going into UTEP.
On the importance of changing tempos of an offense:
"I always looked at it like a [baseball] pitcher; you come in the game with different speeds and different pitches. Some pitchers have good curveballs, some pitchers have good fastballs. We just want to be able to change the pace and dictate the tempo of the defense.
On what he has learned thus far as offensive coordinator:
"What I've learned is that through the highs and lows, we have to be detailed. There's always something more we can detail up and the guys are doing a good job of getting back in there - after wins, after losses - and holding their chins high. We know and understand we haven't played our best football but there's room to get better. The cool thing is that every day is new, and they come to practice and meetings every day with smiles on their face ready to learn.
