BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Cross Country has announced its fall slate that features three meets close to home in Kentucky or Tennessee. The Hilltoppers, guided by Head Coach Erik Jenkins, are set for a schedule very similar to the 2016 campaign.
Opening the year on Sept. 2 at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by Tennessee Tech, WKU will look to improve upon last season's showing in Cookeville, Tenn.
A couple weekends later, Jenkins and company will head south again with the Commodore Classic on the schedule. The Sept. 16 outing in Nashville saw nearly 30 squads on both the men's and women's sides represented in the field a year ago.
To close September, the Hilltopper cross country team will head north for the Greater Louisville Classic. The 2017 season marks the 16th Annual Louisville Sports Commission Cross Country Classic, which features teams from every NCAA level as well as high school squads. Action will take place from the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
WKU will close out regular season action at the Evansville Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
This year's Conference USA Championships will be held in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Saturday, Oct. 28. The 2017 Hilltopper squad will look to out-perform the preseason ninth ranking for the men and 11th prediction for the women at the Southern Miss-hosted event.
