BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball shook off two straight losses Saturday and got back on the winning track with an 81-65 victory over Indiana State at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Five Hilltoppers scored in double figures, led by freshman guard Taveion Hollingsworth's 19 points – 13 of them in the second half. He also had three steals.

Senior guard Darius Thompson finished with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals, and senior forward Justin Johnson added 15 points and six rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting.

Senior forward Dwight Coleby tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, and redshirt junior guard Lamonte Bearden chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

The Hilltoppers (7-4) shot 56.6 percent from the field, grabbed 11 steals and outscored Indiana State 42-24 in the paint.

WKU scored the first seven points of the game and ultimately opened with a 19-5 run, including 14 points in the paint.

The Hilltoppers shot 58.6 percent from the field in the first half, building a 43-28 advantage by the break.

Indiana State (5-6) cut into the lead and trailed just 57-45 with 8:29 left, but WKU went on a 19-11 run to open a 76-56 lead – its largest of the day – with 3:30 left on a three-point play by Thompson.

Brenton Scott paced the Sycamores with 16 points and eight rebounds.

WKU stays home to host Belmont at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday at E.A. Diddle Arena.
