BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — As the team nears kick off for Saturday's game vs. HBU, WKU's defense was the focal point of the day on Wednesday during a two hour practice session on Feix Field inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
The Hilltoppers and Huskies kick off at 6 p.m. CT in a game set to stream live on WKUSports.tv with a simulcast from the Voice of the Hilltoppers, Randy Lee, and former WKU quarterback Leo Peckenpaugh calling the action. Subscriptions to WKUSports.tv, part of CBS's College Sports Live platform, begin at just $9.95/month or can be purchased annually for $99.95.
For associate head coach and defensive coordinator Nick Holt, the divisional difference between the two programs will not and has not played a factor into WKU's preparation for the week as the Red and White look to get back to their winning ways.
"(We've been preaching all week) that we need to finish in the game, communicating all the way through the series and the play calls," Holt said. "We went back and looked at all of the things and tried to get better this week. Hopefully it will show this week and in the weeks to come."
In Monday's press conference, head coach Jeff Brohm indicated that he wanted to see more rotation of substitutes in the defensive game plan and Holt echoed that statement on Wednesday.
"We've got to keep rotating guys. Some guys got fatigued on Saturday," Holt added. "We usually play a lot of guys, but we have to make sure that we're playing even more."
