MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The WKU women's tennis team fell to Middle Tennessee (13-7-1) on Saturday on the road to finish the regular season 9-5. The Lady Toppers will find out their opponent for the Conference USA Championship on Monday.
WKU dropped the doubles point for only the fifth time this season to start the match, losing at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Andreanna Christopoulou and Cynthia Melita Setyawan were leading 5-4 when the point was determined.
In singles, Elpida Malamou was the lone Lady Topper to secure a win. Malamou topped Giulia Squadrin 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. The sophomore now improves to 13-1 on the season and extends her winning streak to 12-straight matches. Christopoulou and Melita Setyawan did not finish their matches before the match was clinched by the Blue Raiders.
WKU will return to Murfreesboro on Thursday to play in the C-USA Championship. Seedings and times for the tournament will be announced on Monday.
