C-USA Release
IRVING, Texas - Wrapping up three days of Conference USA volleyball awards, the league office has announced that WKU Volleyball junior setter Jessica Lucas was named to the C-USA Academic All-Conference team. Lucas is one of 11 Conference USA student-athletes from 10 different programs to earn the 2016 honor.
Lucas has collected C-USA awards three days in a row after being named First-Team All-Conference and the league's Setter of the Year. Just one other Conference USA volleyball player earned awards on all three days as Marshall's Allie Kellerman also completed the feat.
This marks the first Academic All-Conference honor of Lucas' career as the junior has been working hard on the court and in the classroom. Lucas is majoring in exercise science, pre-physical therapy at WKU and owns a cumulative 3.49 overall GPA. In the spring of both 2015 and 2016, Lucas earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
WKU Volleyball has now seen four Lady Toppers selected to the Conference USA Academic All-Conference team in its three season in the league. Following the program's debut season in C-USA, both Heather Boyan and Rachel Engle were honored for their work in the classroom. In 2015 Engle was selected to the league's academic squad again.
