LEXINGTON, Ky. - Following a pair of weekend victories over Conference USA foes, the WKU volleyball squad is back in the AVCA Top-25 rankings at No. 23 in the most recent poll. Over the weekend, the Lady Toppers extended their win streak to 13-consecutive matches and improved to 22-2 overall and 9-0 in league action.
In weekend competition against UTEP and UTSA, the Red and White averaged a .242 offensive efficiency clip while limiting their opposition to a .103 rate. In a rematch of the 2015 C-USA Tournament championship match, WKU again took down UTSA in four sets. The Lady Toppers held the Roadrunners to a .077 hitting percentage, their lowest of the season.
Individually, Rachel Anderson was honored as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for her .540 weekend hitting percentage, including a career-high 20 kills against UTSA. Additionally, Georgia O'Connell collected the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week accolade after averaging 4.71 digs per set in weekend action.
WKU enters the rankings for the seventh time during the 2016 season in the 10th poll of the year. The Lady Toppers also ranked 23rd in the second regular season poll of the year after opening the season at No. 19. WKU also came in at No. 22 in the AVCA preseason poll.
