BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU has been stout on defense for the first half of the season, but after a disappointing outing last week at Louisiana Tech, the Hilltopper defense is looking to rebound on Saturday during a pivotal Conference USA matchup at Middle Tennessee.
Saturday's game, set for a 1:30 p.m. kick off from Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, can be seen live on ESPN 3 with Jake Rose, Alex Myers and Sara Cardona on the call.
In a hopeful bounce back type of game, defensive coordinator Nick Holt stressed his team's preparation and the benefit of some similar concepts between the Bulldogs and Blue Raiders.
"They have very similar concepts and hopeful there is some carry over with our preparation," Holt said. "I don't know how much it will really matter, though. We just have to do what we're supposed to do. If we take care of business and keep the ball in front of us, we'll be okay. We just can't give up those easy scores. It's unacceptable."
Against one of the league's top quarterbacks in Brent Stockstill, the Hilltopper defensive line will need to hold its own and put pressure on the pocket in order to come away with a victory.
"We've got to do what we do, and do it even better," Holt added. "We've also got to do a really good job in coverage.
