BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The WKU women's soccer team will host Valparaiso on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the WKU Soccer Complex. The Lady Toppers enter the match with an even 2-2 record, while the Crusaders are 1-2 on the season.
WKU is coming off of a 1-1 record last weekend in the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU. The Lady Toppers fell to the host team 4-1 before ending the tournament on a high note with a 1-0 win against Stephen F. Austin. Juniors Iris Dunn and Haley Baldridge each scored a goal for WKU during the tournament.
Valparaiso will be ending a five-game road swing to start the season on Sunday at the WKU Soccer Complex. The Crusaders dropped games to No. 9 Notre Dame, 6-0, and Northwestern, 2-0, to start the season but picked up a win last weekend against Miami (Ohio), 2-0. They will take on Belmont in Nashville on Friday before traveling to Bowling Green. Valparaiso won the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles last season after going 14-2-4 on the season, including a perfect 8-0 in conference play. The Crusaders were picked to win the Horizon this season by the league's coaches.
Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the two programs. Valparaiso is the last of five first-time opponents for WKU this season. The Lady Toppers have a 2-2 record in those games thus far. WKU has a 13-5-1 all-time record against teams from the state of Indiana.
The game will serve as the WKU Soccer Camp Reunion Day. All campers will receive free admission to the game and family members of the campers will receive a discounted ticket to the game.
Season tickets are available online at wkusports.com or by calling the WKU ticket office at 1-800-5-BIGRED.
