PrepVolleyball.com Top 50 Countdown
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- On the heels of a stellar season-opening weekend, the WKU volleyball team moved into the top 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, holding at No. 20 after receiving 341 total points.
The ranking marks the fifth-consecutive year that WKU has received votes or had a spot in the top 25. The Lady Tops reached the No. 24 spot in 2014 and held the program's highest ranking in 2013 at No. 15. The team spent 14-consecutive weeks in the top 25 over the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Additionally, WKU comes in at No. 15 in the Top 50 countdown as released by PrepVolleyball.com. The Lady Toppers began the season in the No. 27 spot.
The Lady Toppers finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record as WKU upset then-fifth ranked Wisconsin, 3-1, Friday before clinching the invitational championship Saturday with sweeps of both the College of Charleston and Colgate. The win over Colgate proved to be historic as it marked head coach Travis Hudson's 500th career victory.
No. 20 WKU (3-0) returns to action Friday evening as the Lady Tops are set to travel to Carbondale, Illinois, to take part in the 2015 Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois University. WKU opens the invite with a 4:30 p.m. CT match with UT Martin.
