BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU will host Big Ten Conference foe Indiana in 2021 as part of a three-game football series, the two programs announced on Thursday.
The series is broken up into two parts for the Hilltoppers and Hoosiers. Set to take place over the 2019-21 seasons, the teams will trade home games in Bloomington on Sept. 12, 2020 and in Bowling Green on Sept. 25, 2021. WKU will play one guarantee game in Bloomington prior to that on Sept. 7, 2019.
"Adding Indiana to our future football schedules continues a trend of adding quality, regional opponents from the Big Ten and Southeastern Conferences," said Director of Athletics Todd Stewart. "We will host a Big Ten opponent on our campus in 2021, while the pair of away games is an easy drive for our fans. It is an excellent opportunity for the Hilltopper Nation to fill our stadium, but then also go to another venue to support our program on the road."
The three-game series fits the mold of previously announced non-conference foes who are attractive options at home or close road trips for fans of the Red and White. WKU has hosted Navy (2013) and Army (2014) in recent years and will play SEC foe Vanderbilt to open the 2015 season in Nashville. Vanderbilt will make their return trip to Bowling Green in 2016.
The Tops also traveled to Illinois last season and will again go to Big Ten country in 2015 when they take on the Hoosiers in week three.
