BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU enjoyed a light workout on Thursday afternoon as they held their 14th and final practice of the spring season, ahead of Saturday's Red vs. White game which is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff from Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
It has been a productive five weeks for the Hilltoppers and their second-year head coach who has been pleased with the development across the board of his team.
"I think our coaches and staff have done a good job identifying where we needed to get better at," Brohm said. "That's not only for the players but coaches as well."
Saturday's game will also serve as a motivating tool for a number of younger players who have yet to get meaningful in-game experience, and a crowded Houchens-L.T. Smith Stadium is something Brohm said his team is looking forward to.
"I'm expecting our guys to come out and compete, show the progress we think we've made. I think (the Spring Game) will be great. When you come out here and perform and have people out here supporting you who love watching the game, that's why you play the game."
The format for Saturday's game will be more competitive than most spring games, which typically feature the top offenses against the second team defense. Instead, Brohm and his coaching staff have split the teams in offense (red) and defense (white) and devised a scoring system for the defense to get points on the board via stops, takeaways and defensive touchdowns. Complete details on the scoring system will be announced on Friday.
