BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU defeated Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College in an exhibition game Monday night at E.A. Diddle Arena, 84-71, behind 22 points from Aaron Cosby and two other players finishing in double figures.
WKU has now won 20-straight preseason games dating back to a 2002-03 loss to the Harlem Globetrotters and moves to 52-4 all-time in exhibition games.
In his debut in the Red and White, Cosby went 7-for-13 from the field en route to the game-high 22 points. He hit four three-pointers and added three assists. Chris Harrison-Docks followed with 15 points, and Fredrick Edmond added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Chris McNeal also had seven rebounds for the Hilltoppers, who topped the Blue Raiders 43-27 on the glass.
Ben Lawson blocked five shots for WKU. Lindsey Wilson was led by Brian Wallace and Kevin Windley's 19 points apiece.
WKU led 46-27 at halftime after shooting 48.5 percent (16-for-33) from the floor and 7-for-17 from three-point range. Ten Hilltoppers played in the opening 20 minutes, and Cosby led the way with 15 first-half tallies thanks in part to three three-pointers. Harrison-Docks added 11 in the first half, and Edmond contributed nine. The Blue Raiders were 12-for-29 from the field (.414) but 0-for-9 from distance.
The Hilltoppers had 12 assists on their 16 first-half baskets.
Lindsey Wilson got no closer than within 12 points in the second half, which came twice in the final 40 seconds of the game.
WKU finished with 17 assists on 29 field goals in the game and had 32 points off the bench.
WKU hosts Kentucky Wesleyan Friday night at 7:00 (CT) in a second exhibition game before the regular season begins on Saturday, Nov. 14 against Campbellsville (Ky.) as part of the 2015 Gulf Coast Showcase. Tip-off against Campbellsville is set for 7:00 PM (CT), and season and single-game tickets are available through the WKU Ticket Office.
