BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It will be Halloween in Norfolk on Saturday as the Hilltoppers (6-2, 4-0 C-USA) travel to take on Conference USA East Division foe Old Dominion (3-4, 1-2 C-USA), and head coach Jeff Brohm and his team closed out the week of preparation on Thursday.
After last season's 66-51 WKU win, coupled with the return of C-USA's leading rusher in Ray Lawry, Brohm knows this weekend's match-up will be a test of two powerful offenses.
"I think that we are prepared, and we know we have a tough road game ahead of us," Brohm said. "We've got to get ready to go. Any time you lose, you want to get back out there as soon as you can. This team almost beat us last year – probably should have if it wasn't for any interception. This one is at their place in front of a good crowd, so I know they'll be ready to play."
It will be the final game of a three-game road swing for the Hilltoppers in what has been the longest, by distance, three-game road stretch in program history. Since travelling to North Texas on Oct. 15, the Hilltoppers will have traveled a total of 4,300 miles over a three-game span.
The fatigue of being on the road for three weeks, however, is not something that worries the second-year head coach.
"I think they are a mature team," Brohm said. "You don't want to get caught up around you. You don't want to get caught up in what's down the road. All we can worry about is one week at a time and concentrate on that. Win that week and win that practice."
