BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Weekly honors rolled in for WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty on Monday as he was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, a Manning Award Star of the Week and a Davey O'Brien Performer of the Week.
This marks the fourth time this season that Doughty has secured multiple awards in the same week. He leads C-USA with three Player of the Week medals this season and has seven for his career. The Manning Award has tabbed Doughty a Star of the Week in four of six weeks this season and three-straight, while he has been a Davey O'Brien Performer of the Week after last four games.
Doughty led WKU to its most points against long-time rival Middle Tennessee in a single game with 58 as he threw for 359 yards and five touchdowns in the 58-28 win. With his yardage total, Doughty became the 91st quarterback in FBS history to eclipse the 10,000-yard mark for his career, pushing his total to 10,159 yards.
He continued his dominance in the first half this season as he racked up 333 yards and all of his passing scores in the opening half of the contest. For the year, Doughty's first half passing yards (1,748) would rank him No. 18 nationally among all team passing offenses. Against the Blue Raiders, Doughty almost had as many touchdown tosses (5) as he did incompletions in the contest (8).
In addition to the weekly honors, Doughty was also named to the 2015 College Football Performance Awards Midseason Watch List for the CFPA National Performer of the Year award. The winner will be announced January 13, 2016.
Doughty and the Hilltoppers will have a quick turnaround this week as they travel to Denton, Texas, to take on North Texas this Thursday, with the game being shown nationally on CBS Sports Network at 6:30 p.m. CT.
