Indiana Relays Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - WKU's young crop of sprinters continued their stellar indoor campaign this weekend at the Indiana Relays as the Hilltopper and Lady Topper speedsters combined for four wins and a pair of runner-up finishes at Gladstein Fieldhouse.
2014 All-Americans Emmanuel Dasor, Carrol Hardy and Chioma Agwunobi all walked away with victories in Bloomington as they turned in some of the top times in Conference USA this season.
Dasor won the elite heat of the 200-meter dash with a career-best clocking of 21.28 seconds, which ranks 26th nationally and currently leads Conference USA. The sophomore sprinter's time was also the fifth-fastest in WKU's storied track history. Sophomore Ventavius Sears was third at 21.40 seconds in the elite heat and freshman Julius Morris won the other heat at 21.79 seconds.
Agwunobi followed suit for the Lady Toppers, posting a victory in the 200 with the fastest time in the league at 24.12 seconds. The senior's clocking ranks 33rd in the nation and leads C-USA by more than two-tenths of a second.
Hardy, who was named the C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 20, secured another win in the 60-meter dash and finished runner-up in the 200 to add to her strong start to 2015. Hardy, a sophomore, swept the preliminaries, semi-finals and finals of the 60-meter dash and posted a 7.54-second finish in the finals before clocking 24.60 in the 200 to capture second. Freshman Peli Alzola nipped at her heels the whole way in the 60-meter dash and posted back-to-back career best times at 7.69 in the semis and 7.65 in the finals.
Senior Karleigh Parker and sophomore Jenessa Jackson continued their strong seasons in the field for the Lady Toppers over the two-day meet. Parker, a two-time C-USA Female Field Athlete of the Week in 2015, cleared 12-feet-9 inches (3.89m) for the fourth time in five competitions this season, finished third among the field and maintained her comfortable lead in the C-USA standings. Jackson was runner-up in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 59-feet-2.25 inches (18.04m) and finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 47-feet-9.75 inches (14.75m).
The Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers have two more tune-ups before the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships and look to improve on their marks next weekend in South Bend at the Meyo Invitational.
