BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - On Saturday, a rivalry is renewed between WKU (1-1) and Middle Tennessee (1-1), and Hilltopper fans in Bowling Green will be able to catch the action live on WKU PBS as the station has been cleared to broadcast the game, set for a 6 p.m. kick from Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
WKU PBS airs locally in Bowling Green on channel 917 (HD) or 11 (SD) on Time Warner or channel 24 on Dish Network. The station can also be picked up on an over-the-air antenna on channel 24.1
"WKU PBS is excited to bring the Conference USA rivalry to viewers in our television market," David Brinkley, Director of WKU Public Broadcasting said. "We know that our viewers enjoy seeing these games as much as we enjoy providing them through cooperation of several partnerships in our new conference."
Produced and originated by MyNashville 30, the broadcast will have play-by-play coverage from the Middle Tennessee perspective, featuring the `Voice of the Blue Raiders' Chip Walters and analyst Dennis Burke.
The game will also air on the Conference USA Digital Network as part of a league subscription package which also includes three future WKU football home games as well as live streams of WKU volleyball, men's and women's basketball and more as well as content from every member school of C-USA. The game marks the 100th anniversary of the rivalry as the Hilltoppers squared off against their first collegiate opponent - Middle Tennessee - on October 10, 1914. It is also the inaugural Conference USA game for WKU and the re-igniting of the longest held rivalry game in the league, now entering its 64th match-up.
Both teams are coming off losses at Big Ten schools. WKU fell in a close affair at Illinois, where they carried a 27-21 lead into the fourth quarter, 42-34 while Middle Tennessee was defeated by Minnesota 35-24.
