BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - With just two practices standing in the way of the "Battle of Bowling Greens", Jeff Brohm and his WKU Hilltopper football team continued preparations for their 2014 season opener, set for Friday night inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium, on Tuesday.
As the game draws nearer, the demanding nature of the WKU coaching staff - Conference USA's most experienced - continues to show itself, and WKU starting quarterback echoed those sentiments following the two-hour practice sessions.
"We have to be consistent," Doughty said. "Everyone has to play their role and understand it's going to take 11 guys (to win the game). We have to stay consistent throughout the game and just keep pushing."
Staying consistent and playing together will be keys, and for offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tyson Helton, the Hilltoppers have shown their ability to do just that.
"They are a very experienced group," Helton added. "They look like they play well together. We'll have a fight on our hands and we'll need to click on all cylinders, but I think our guys are looking forward to the challenge."
Friday's game will serve as the `Live United' White Out game, with the first 6,000 fans to enter the stadium receiving a `Live United' t-shirt. Season and single-game tickets are still available, and fans can get on the #BrohmSquad by calling the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5-BIG-RED, shopping online at the top of the page under 'Tickets', or by visiting the ticket office inside E.A. Diddle Arena.
Tailgating on game day will begin at 4 p.m., and WKU Athletics will over over 4,500 free paved parking spaces throughout campus for fans attending games all season long, including 500 free covered parking spaces in Parking Structure 1, located next to Diddle Arena.
