BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- After the overwhelming popularity of the initiative to celebrate the first day of WKU's affiliation with Conference USA, WKU Athletics is once again inviting the community to help "Paint BG Red" to prepare for the WKU Football season opener against Bowling Green.
On Thursday, August 28, fans are encouraged to wear red and show a "Hilltopper Spirit" sign as the football squad prepares to face the Falcons Friday night at 6:30 PM at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
Beginning at 8:00 AM on August 28 and continuing until noon, WKU Athletics will be traveling around the community with WKU prizes to give to people at businesses, offices and restaurants who are wearing WKU red and have displayed a "Hilltopper Spirit" sign. Fans are encouraged to tweet a picture of themselves and their co-workers dressed in WKU attire or their business displaying a sign to @WKUSports using the hashtag #PaintBGRed to show the Prize Patrol where you are located.
Hilltopper fans are encouraged to carry over their show of spirit and pack Houchens-Smith Stadium for the "Live United White Out" game where the first 6,000 fans will be given a white "Live United" t-shirt. "The Battle of Bowling Greens" is the second meeting between WKU and BGSU and first since 2007, a Falcon victory. It will also be the debut of head coach Jeff Brohm and the team's first game as members of Conference USA.
