BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU's David Mokone has been named the Sun Belt Conference Male Runner of the Week after his fifth-place showing at the Belmont Opener, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Mokone recorded his seventh career top-10 finish in a cross country race with his fifth-place outing at last Friday's Belmont Opener, clocking a 5K time of 15:57.02 to pace all Hilltopper runners.
His Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week honor is the first of his cross country career and fourth overall athlete of the week award, including indoor and outdoor track.
Mokone and his teammates return to the course on Sept. 14 when they head back to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the Commodore Classic.
