WKU 71, Murray State 64
December 21, 2013
Bowling Green, Ky. (E.A. Diddle Arena)
HEAD COACH Ray Harper
On outrebounding Murray State:
"I thought we were very aggressive in the second half. We went after the basketball and got a lot of second and third opportunities. I think Alex (Rostov) had five offensive rebounds. That's the most he has had in a game this season. I saw a little bit more of a sense of urgency in the second half. Nothing against the way Murray State played; they came out and hit us in the mouth. I thought as the game went on, we were better. Our energy was better, our decision making was better. Eighteen offensive rebounds, I'll take that pretty much every night out."
On making the comeback:
"Our guys never blinked. I think we went down 26-12, or 28-12, but we stayed with it. We have to do a better job on the defensive end. They drove us whenever they wanted to drive us. Our rotations were bad. I thought our press helped a little bit, but our transition defense was horrible at times. It was much better at times in the second half."
On T.J. Price's 15 second-half points:
"Obviously, it's big. That is what we count on. He is a guy who we know is a shot maker. The thing I was most proud of how they stuck with it and grinded it out. It was a grind-out Saturday. That is just what it was. That's kind of what you can always expect in these types of games."
JUNIOR FORWARD George Fant
On the home crowd:
"They were really good. They were here supporting really well today. Even when we were down by 11 at one point, they were still yelling for us. It helped us get back in it, so I really appreciate that."
On staying confident when Murray State had the lead:
"It's a 40-minute game. The game of basketball is a game of runs. They made a run, and I knew at some point that we were going to buckle down and say, 'Ok, stop it!' That's what happened for us. I knew it was going to happen, and it did."
On T.J. Price's play in the second half:
"He's very capable, I think everyone knows that. He's a very capable scorer. He could turn it on at any time. I knew he was going to turn it on at some point. He was not going to stay down. He came back out in the second half, he knew he was going to play good, and he did."
JUNIOR GUARD T.J. Price
On his play in the second half:
"I came in and stayed with a positive attitude. My team kept me with a positive attitude, and basically I thank my team for keeping me in the game. I didn't have a good first half, but it's a team thing. The team kept me in the game, we kept talking to each other, and I got going a little bit. When I did get going, my teammates would find me when I was open. It was a team win."
On what changed in the second half:
"I came out with a better positive attitude. Positive mindset, I guess."
