WEST POINT, N.Y.-WKU, coming off a 44-28 Sun Belt Conference victory, will aim to become bowl eligible for the third straight season on Saturday as they take on Army from Michie Stadium on the campus of the United States Military Academy.
Kick-off is set for 11 a.m. CT and the game will be aired on the CBS Sports Network, channel 968 (HD) on Time Warner Cable in Bowling Green. Ben Holden and Tom Bradley, along with Kristine Leahy, will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the IMG Hilltopper Sports Network with Randy Lee, Leo Peckenpaugh and Terry Obee relaying the action.
With a victory, the Tops will become bowl eligible for the third straight season - having earned their first bowl appearance in FBS program history last season. They would be just the sixth team since 1987 to make the FCS-FBS transition to be bowl eligible in three consecutive seasons within their five five years of eligibility.
WKU enters the week as one of just 11 schools across the country to rank in both the top 30 in total offense and total defense - the others are: Baylor, Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State, Arizona State, Louisville, Wisconsin, LSU, Marshall and Utah State.
The Army game will be just the second time since 1982 that WKU has played in the traditional "northeast" region of the United States - the other being a 2009 game at Navy. WKU played at Delaware, falling 31-0, during the 1982 season.
Antonio Andrews continues to lead WKU and the nation on the ground, rushing for 1,290 yards so far this season, already the 10th-most in a single season in school history. Andrews also leads the nation in all-purpose yards, total and per game.
Defensively, the Tops will look to repeat their performance against the triple option from earlier this season when they shut down the vaunted running attack of Navy, holding the Mids to just 107 yards on the ground. Linebackers Andrew Jackson and Xavius Boyd combined for 13 tackles and three tackles for loss in that game.
To do that, WKU will have to face the nation's top rushing offense as the Black Knights average 339.3 yards per game on the ground.
Headlining the Army attack is running back Terry Baggett whose 104 carries and 889 yards lead the team. Baggett set an academy record with a 304 yard performance in a 50-25 win over Eastern Michigan earlier this season. In the air, Army averages just 73.8 yards per game, the nation's lowest average through the air.
On defense, Army will return senior rover Thomas Holloway who leads the team in tackles despite missing time over the previous weeks. Army is also allowing just 204.8 passing yards per game, the 21st ranked passing defense in the country.
