Opening Statement
"I like what we saw when we watched the video. It was certainly a game that we felt like we should win. We played well, we executed, our offensive line did a good job, our running backs ran hard, we made plays down the field offensively and defensively I thought we played really well in the first half. We lost a little bit of focus and gave them some big plays in the second half but for the most part it was a good effort. The kids played hard and that's the number one thing: effort. It's exciting to play Army. It will be another challenge for our defense, going against the option offense. Offensively, we have to go in and execute, gets points on the board and take advantage of every possession we have."
On Brandon Doughty's health...
"He's doing good. There's a protocol you go through and he's met everything so far. He should be out at practice tomorrow, which is a good thing. We've got the thumbs up so far unless there is a setback."
On Andrew Jackson...
"He has met every requirement so far, so hopefully he'll have a good week and be ready to go."
On Army's offense compared to Navy's offense...
"They do a few different things. They run it more. They have a couple different schemes in their running. They do more of the load option than the true triple (option). They try to block guys instead of read them. They are very patient. It is going to be a challenge. We have to do a good job on first down. That is going to be one of the things we have to do. Navy's quarterback is probably more of a thrower but schematically there are a lot of similarities.
On success of red zone offense vs. Georgia State...
"We made plays, we executed, we showed power and our players really understood what we were going to see and what we needed to do to get the ball in the end zone. It was a good deal to score touchdowns when we got down there. We did a couple of different things. We got Kadeem (Jones) wide open for one touchdown. He's a good weapon. He has great hands and good hips so he can adjust to the ball. We are kind of looking at what our weapons are when we get down there."
On spreading the wealth offensively...
"I felt like a couple of the game we weren't successful in the fourth quarter, offensively, we weren't fresh enough with Antonio (Andrews). We are trying to keep him fresher going into the fourth quarter. Not that he's not going to get his touches, we just feel like if we can give him a series off in the first quarter, a series off in the second quarter, we feel he's going to be fresher when the defense is tired. He really did a good job of running in the second half when Brandon (Doughty) went down and one drive drove us down for a touchdown."
On being a win away from bowl eligibility...
"We're just working on winning the game. That is what you focus on. We just have to work on preparing hard and winning this game."
On Keshawn Simpson...
"Early in the year that was his role, to come in and be in those personnel groupings. Then he got a little bit nicked up. We have all the confidence in the world that Antonio (Andrews) can do that too but Keshawn did a great job with his power, made a couple of really good runs. It's good to get him in there to helps us out winning a game. He's certainly a guy that is very, very capable. He works extremely hard. He's been a pleasure to coach. He has a great attitude every day."
