NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference announced the final volleyball weekly awards of the season, as Western Kentucky University volleyball redshirt senior Paige Wessel earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Wessel earned her first Offensive Player of the Week honor this season and second in her career. She led WKU to three wins last week and the Sun Belt Conference regular-season title. She helped WKU hit .329, as she boosted the offense with a .615 hitting mark with 36 kills. Wessel tallied 3.27 kills per set and also had a team-high four service aces.
The Louisville, Ky., native hit an outstanding career-high .846 in a win over Georgia State to go along with 3.67 kills per set. Wessel notched 17 kills in a five-set win over South Alabama and put up eight kills and two aces in the Senior Day match versus Troy.
Wessel and the Lady Toppers hit the road where they will look to survive and advance in the SBC Tournament in Troy, Ala., on Nov. 21-23. No. 1 seed WKU will take on host and No. 8 seed Troy on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. CT. All matches will be streamed live on sunbeltsports.org free of charge.
