WKU improves to 4-2 on the season while ULM falls to 2-4. WKU is 1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference while ULM is 0-1 in the league.
WKU improves to 4-2 or better for the second consecutive season, marking the first time the Hilltoppers have achieved that feat since 2004 and 2005.
Tonight's game marked a meeting of former national champions. WKU won the 2002 I-AA National Championship while ULM claimed the same title in 1987.
WKU returns home on Tues. Oct. 15, 2013 at 7:00 pm CT against Louisiana-Lafayette at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN2. WKU won the coin toss and elected to receive. WKU has opened the game with the ball in each game this season.
WKU's team captains were Brandon Doughty, Jonathan Dowling, Andrew Jackson and Cam Thomas.
WKU went six plays for 75 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive of the game, capped by a Doughty touchdown pass to McNeal. It marked the fifth time in six games that WKU has scored on its opening drive of the game.
o WKU had four first downs on its opening six-play drive for a touchdown.
o Doughty is now 17-of-19 for 190 yards and two touchdowns on opening drives of games this season for WKU in his five starts.

Freshman wide receiver Taywan Taylor has caught a pass in five of six games this season.
Junior Willie McNeal had two catches for 47 yards. McNeal caught his first touchdown pass of the season and ninth career touchdown. It was the first touchdown catch for McNeal since a touchdown against FAU on Nov. 10, 2012.
Freshman wide receiver Nicholas Norris has caught a pass in five of six games this season.
Senior punter Hendrix Brakefield pinned ULM inside the two-yard line twice in the game and for the third and fourth time in the last three games.
o It was the third time in Brakefield's career that he has pinned an opponent inside the five yard line multiple times in a game. He also achieved the feat against MTSU on Oct. 6, 2011 and against Arkansas State on Sept. 29, 2012.
