WKU Head Coach Bobby Petrino
Opening Statement
"That's a tough loss for us. We were in control in the first half and then we had a fourth and one and it was a bad call. The blame goes strictly to me. We had an opportunity to either kick a field goal or run the ball in, and I decided to run a play-action pass. You know, we throw an interception and he takes it back for a touchdown. That kind of changed the game around. We were moving it, we came right back and we moved it. We kind of got the ball stolen from us there on another fourth down so it ends up 13-10. And then our offense drove down and got three points right before the half. I thought that'd give us some momentum. When we came out in the second half, we got outplayed. They were more physical on the offensive front. They took the first drive and went eight minutes and ran the ball. We still had another chance. We had another chance on a fourth and one and we made a mistake. It hurt us. Tip your hat off to Lafayette. They did a good job in the second half of controlling the line of scrimmage and pounding their running backs at us. We weren't able to make plays when it was the critical time in the game."
On the fourth down play calls
"We ran it three times in a row there the first time and weren't able to get it into the end zone. Looked like two of them would score so we felt like we had a chance, but it ends up being a bad call and it certainly affected the outcome of the game. Like I said, that's on my shoulders."
On expecting ULL to run the ball as much as they did
"Well, we knew they were a running team. I think what they did was they came out in the second half and said they didn't want to give the ball back to our offense. They didn't really stop us in the first half. We stopped ourselves with errors and mistakes. They worked the clock. They were in four minute offense the entire second half and pounded the ball and they did a good job. They found a way to win the game."
How did the turnovers affect you all
"They were the difference in the game. There's no question they were the difference in the game. You can't win games when you throw interceptions for touchdowns and get outcompeted for balls in the air."
On Brandon Doughty getting shaken up "He got hit hard. He was out of the game for a period of time and (Nelson) Fishback came in and made some plays for us. He made a critical error on a fourth and short. Brandon (Doughty) took a good hit. The doctor said he was ready to go so he came back in and we just weren't able to execute."
On the frustration knowing the turnovers likely cost a win
"There are a lot of chances there. We had a lot of chances, but we weren't able to make the plays. We have to be able to make the plays and it's just not a good job of finding ways to win the game."
On preparation for Troy
"We go back to work. That's what you do. We'll get back in here tomorrow and watch the video and be very critical of it. We'll go out and run and work our young guys. We'll put it behind us and we'll start preparing for the Troy game. It's disappointing to me because we knew going in we had to win all our home games in order to win the conference and we didn't do that. We still have opportunities ahead of us to win enough games to get to a bowl game and send the seniors out with a good year."
WKU Player Quotes
Arius Wright
On UL's rushing attack
"Going into every game you know a team's going to run the ball so that's the first thing you've got to be prepared for. When you get the amount of yards running like they did then, what else can you expect for them to do but run the ball."
On the game-plan against Terrance Broadway...
"Really just to minimize his plays. He's a great player throwing the ball and running the ball; We just tried to do what we could do, minimize his plays and not let him use his feet as much."
On giving up more than 250 yards rushing...
"It hurts a little bit because we pride ourselves on stopping the run, but there's nothing we can do about it now. We just have to put the game behind us and move on to Troy."
On 99-yard interception return for touchdown...
"No one wants a pick for a touchdown. It kind of did but as leaders we have to pick our team up and we did that and we came out and we were alright."
On disappointment of the loss...
"There was a lot at stake tonight. We really want that Sun Belt Championship, but we have to put it behind us and work on Troy."
On losing momentum after interception...
"In football there's adversity and our coaches do a great job on making our practices have a lot of adversity. Things happen."
ULL Head Coach Mark Hudspeth
Opening Statement
"We played a hard-fought football game, against a really good football team. I thought that they came out and got on us early, but we were able to respond and were able to make a play and get back into the game. I thought defensively we played well. Offensively after a slow first half, we were able to come out and play a very physical game. We were able to run the ball and put some points on the board. It was a big win for us on the road. I am really proud of our team."

Opening Statement
"It was a great team win. We started out slow. They came out hot and we knew that they were going to. So, we had to take a breath and make sure everyone was doing their job. It was a great team win for us."
#25 Al Riles
On the win...
"It was an unbelievable win, I'm really speechless. I was playing a new position tonight for the first time. It was my first time playing outside linebacker. I just listened to my coaches because I knew they knew what was best. I came up big with a big play and I was happy to help my team and my defense. We played at a level that I knew we were capable of. It was a great feeling for the team because we were finally able to show the world what we can do."
