19-Point Win Over Louisiana-Lafayette on Homecoming
The transition from FCS to FBS wasn’t an easy one for the Hilltoppers, but in 2011 WKU emphatically established themselves as a legitimate Sun Belt contender.
Coming off two-straight road victories at Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic, WKU took on Sun Belt-leading Louisiana-Lafayette in Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
The Hilltoppers made homecoming memorable, knocking off the Rajin’ Cajuns 42-23 for their first home victory of the FBS era. All-American running back Bobby Rainey spearheaded the historic victory, rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
