BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After picking up its first series win of the season last weekend against Kent State, the Western Kentucky University baseball team will look to continue its winning ways when it welcomes Evansville to Nick Denes Field on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
WKU (4-7) picked up a win in Friday's series opener behind a strong start from junior left-hander Tanner Perkins. He limited the Golden Flashes to one run on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in seven innings. Junior Ryan Huck went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a pair of home runs to lead the offense for WKU.
After Kent State evened the series with a 13-3 win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, WKU clinched the series with a 2-1 victory in the finale. Junior left-hander Tim Bado allowed one run on six hits in 8-1/3 innings on Sunday afternoon to lead WKU to the win.
Wednesday continues an eight-game homestand for the Hilltoppers to open the month of March. WKU will take on Western Illinois in a three-game series this weekend at Nick Denes Field.
