BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After dropping two of three games at home to Southern Illinois, the Western Kentucky University baseball team will look to return to the win column when it travels to Murray, Ky., to face Murray State at 2 p.m. at Reagan Field.
WKU picked up a 10-9 victory in 13 innings in Friday's series opener before SIU claimed the series with a 10-3 win Saturday and an 8-3 win Sunday. WKU junior catcher Devin Kelly's 13th-inning RBI single lifted the team to the win on Friday. The Hilltoppers rallied four different times against SIU, including from two runs downs and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, to come away with the victory
As a team, the Hilltoppers finished the series with a .317 batting average, 16 runs, 13 RBIs and 40 hits, including six doubles. Five different Hilltoppers posted batting averages over .300 for the weekend.
Tuesday is second of only two road games for WKU during the first four weeks of the season. The Hilltoppers return home this weekend for a three-game series against Kent State at Nick Denes Field.
