Murfreesboro, Tenn. – The WKU women’s tennis team competed in the Middle Tennessee Shootout over the weekend, marking the second tournament of the fall tennis season.
Monta Reinfelde, winner of the Blue Raider shootout last weekend at Lindsey Wilson College, finished with a 2-1 record over the three-day tournament at Middle Tennessee, falling to Tiffany Welcher from Memphs in the opening match. Reinfelde went on to win her final two singles, including a thrilling three-set victory over Vanja Tomic from Austin Peay in the Blue singles bracket.
Reinfelde and teammate Carolina Barboza went 1-2 in doubles play, after reaching the finals in doubles competition last week at Lindsey Wilson. Barboza also won one singles match over the weekend, defeating Laura Stack from Belmont in the White singles bracket, marking the second tournament in a row the freshman has won at least one match.
McKinley Mason, also playing in the White singles bracket, defeated Stack in straight sets in the opening match of singles play, before falling to eventual bracket champion Stefanie Mikesz from Memphis. Mason and doubles teammate Alex Crofford also went 1-2 in doubles play, defeating a team from Belmont, 9-7.
