BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Western Kentucky University volleyball team received national recognition this week with the release Monday of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Coaches Top 25 poll.
After an opening-weekend that featured a sweep of the Belmont Invitational, including wins over Sacramento State, Belmont and Murray State, the Lady Toppers (3-0) received four votes in the AVCA poll and are the only team from the Sun Belt Conference to receive votes.
The No. 39 ranking improves on the No. 46 spot in the AVCA’s preseason poll. The Lady Toppers also received four votes in that poll.
WKU returns to action this weekend at the Kentucky Classic at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky. The two-day tournament will feature teams from Virginia Tech, Ohio and host Kentucky, all of who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
