BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Western Kentucky University middle hitter Tiffany Elmore has been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference as co-Player of the Week with Middle Tennessee’s Ashley Adams, the league office announced Monday.
The honor is the first of the season and third of her career for Elmore. WKU went 3-0 over the weekend to claim the Belmont Invitational tournament title in Nashville, Tenn.
Elmore was named to the Belmont Invitational all-tournament team after finishing the three matches with an average of three kills and set and a .531 hitting percentage. She also led the team in blocking with 11 total blocks, an average of 1.22 per set.
In the season-opener against Sacramento State, Elmore led the team with 17 kills, one shy of her career best, and a .607 hitting percentage, while not committing an error in 28 attempts. Elmore tallied five kills each against Belmont and Murray State on Saturday. Against the Racers, Elmore was efficient with five kills on eight attempts for a .625 hitting percentage.
WKU (3-0) returns to action this weekend at the Kentucky Classic at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky. The two-day tournament will feature teams from Virginia Tech, Ohio and host Kentucky, all of who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
