BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - In her first season as a member of the WKU women's tennis team, Alex Crofford has started off on the right track. Crofford, a freshman from Franklin, Tennessee, has competed in fourteen of the teams nineteen matches and is an even 7-7 in singles competition. Crofford who primarily competes at the #5 singles spot has seen action as high up as the #2 singles player this season. Along with her strong play in singles, Crofford has gone a combined 9-3 in doubles matches. Crofford, who showcases her versatility and teamwork has played with three different doubles teammates but carries an unblemished 4-0 record when paired with teammate Katrina Vucina. Crofford hopes to continue her strong rookie campaign with the Hilltoppers and post a strong performance in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference tournament.
Over the next three weeks, WKUSports.com will be showcasing different student-athletes of the men's and women's tennis and golf teams as they begin their 2011 campaigns. These profiles will lead up to the Sun Belt Conference championships where the golf teams will be competeing in Muscle Shoals, AL April 18-20 (womens) and April 24-27 (mens). The tennis team will seek their first Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship on April 20 in Mobile, AL on the campus of South Alabama University.
Q: What is your favorite activity outside of your sport?
A: Hang with my friends and roommate.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: I love any type of desserts.
Q: What books have you read lately?
A: The Twilight series.
Q: What is your favorite spring break destination?
A: Alabama with the tennis team.
Q: What was your favorite cartoon character when you were a child?
A: Rugrats.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: Pretty Little Liars and Glee.
Q: If you could have dinner with any person in history, who would it be and why?
A: I would like to have dinner with Jesus and to be able to see him in person so that I could better model my life after him.
Q: If you could have dinner with any person no longer living, who would it be and why?
A: My grandmother, she died a couple years back and I wish I could have spent more time with her.
Q: What are your plans after your playing days are over here at WKU?
A: Going to medical school.
Q: What is your proudest moment in sports?
A: My proudest moment was when I signed to play at WKU.
Q: Who is your all time favorite sports personality?
A: Roger Federer because he is always calm on the court and I wish I could be like that.
Q: Who is your favorite singer or music group?
A: Taylor Swift.
Q: What is the best movie you have ever seen?
A: Harry Potter.
Q: Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
A: My parents, they support me and encourage me when I don't think that I can do something. They are always there for me and they seem like they always know what to do.
