Mobile, Ala. - WKU tennis senior Carrie True will conclude her decorated career on the Hill with the program's first All-Conference award since Andrei Makarevitch took home the honor during the 1999 season. Makarevitch led the Hilltoppers to a 27-3 record during that season, posting an 18-6 record from the No. 1 spot.
True was honored on Wednesday at the championship banquet held in Mobile, Ala., the site of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tennis Tournament.
True has saved arguably her best tennis for last, as the senior is currently tied for the team lead with 14 singles wins in 2011, including an unblemished 9-0 mark from the No. 5 singles position.
For her career, True has accumulated a 46-17 record over four years in singles, compiling double-digit wins in three of her four seasons at WKU. The success has carried over in doubles play as well, as she currently holds a 30-29 record in doubles play for her career.
True, the daughter of head coach Jeff True, has put together a pair of lengthy winning streaks in 2011, including a seven-match winning streak from February 20 to April 8. Her only singles losses this year came to Lindsay Bennett and Laura Stack, both from Belmont.
True's success on the court has led a Lady Topper team dominated by youth to a 13-6 overall record, riding a two-match winning streak into the conference tournament set to begin on Thursday.
The Lady Toppers will take on Arkansas State at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament, with the Hilltoppers set to play at 2:00 p.m. in Mobile.
