Bowling Green, Ky. - The Western Kentucky University football program has set its dates for 2011 Summer camps. Head coach Willie Taggart and his staff will host four different at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium, as well as Satellite Camps at five different high schools throughout Kentucky.
All of the camps being held on campus will be helmet and shoulder pad camps. Campers are responsible for bringing their own pads and jerseys, as well as practice clothes, cleats and tennis shoes, and clothes to wear to dinner. Those that will take advantage of the overnight stay option will also need linens and pillows as they will be housed in dorms.
Three of the camps in Bowling Green will take place in early June, with both the O-line / D-line Camp and the Quarterback Academy taking place June 9-11. June 10-11, WKU will host a Skills Camp for wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, defensive backs and linebackers. All three position camps are open to students entering grades 9-12. Additionally, there will be two Senior Padded Camps on June 13 and July 24 for students entering grades 11 and 12.
Price breakdown for those four camps is as follows: O-line / D-line Camp - $250 overnight, $200 daycampers; Quarterback Academy - $300 overnight, $250 daycampers; Skills Camp - $175 overnight, $150 daycampers; Senior Padded Camp - $50.
All five of the Satellite Camps will be non-padded camps, and carry a fee of $50. Campers will need shorts, jerseys, cleats, tennis shoes and a change of shirt and shoes. Dates for the Satellite Camps are as follows: June 6 - Tates Creek High School (Lexington); June 7 - DuPont Manual High School (Louisville); June 8 - Ryle High School (Union); June 14 - Lone Oak High School (Paducah); June 15 - Corbin High School (Corbin).
