BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University shortstop Logan Robbins has been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference at the SBC Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The honor is the first in his career for Robbins and the second for a Hilltopper this season. Left fielder Jared Andreoli was named Player of the Week on March 8.
Robbins paced WKU to a 4-0 week with a .563 average with a team-high nine hits and five RBIs along with three doubles. He finished the week with a .938 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage. In a three-game sweep of MTSU, Robbins went 6-for-11 (.545) with two doubles. In three of the first four games of the week, Robbins tallied three hits. He now has five games with three hits this season.
Last Tuesday against Belmont, Robbins tallied a double and his first home run of the year and in Saturday's win over MTSU, he went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two doubles.
This season, Robbins is second on the team with a .386 batting average with a team-high seven doubles and 17 RBIs.
WKU (13-6) will take on Austin Peay at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Nick Denes Field before traveling to Miami on Thursday for a three-game weekend series against FIU.
