BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Karlis Daube traveled thousands of miles just to arrive on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Since arriving from his hometown of Riga, Latvia, Daube has made the most of his experience. Daube a sophomore hurdler just completed his most successful indoor track & field season with a first place finish in the 55 meter hurdles and a sixth place finish as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team. Daube now has scored three seperate times in the SBC Indoor meet after finishing 6th as a freshman in the 55 meter hurdles at the 2010 meet. Daube's personal best in the 55 meter hurdles came at the Ed temple Classic where he finished in 7.50 seconds. In the outdoor circuit, Daube looks to improve on his fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles at last year's Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championship. Daube also has his eyes set on a top finish in the 400 meter hurdles after finishing third as a true freshman in 2010.
Over the two weeks, WKUSports.com will be showcasing different members of the men's and women's track & field teams as they near the beginning of their outdoor season. Both the men and women are looking to repeat as Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions May 13-15 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

Q: What are your plans after your playing days are over here at WKU?
A: Keep working on my education as long as possible, and then be useful somewhere to someone.
Q: What is your proudest moment in sports?
A: I believe I haven't have one yet, But I been proud of myself every time I am representing my national team of Latvia internationally, it's has been several times during my lifetime.

A: Alexander Ovechkin.

A: I believe they are my parents, because both of them been around me majority of my life, at phase where my personality was developing during childhood. It is important for every child to have great parents and older brothers like I do, it is good feeling to have someone behind your back no matter where you are and what you been doing family is what matters!
