BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University women's volleyball head coach Travis Hudson was one of four WKU staff members to receive a Staff Excellence Award on Thursday at the university's annual Fall Break Brunch.
Each year, WKU recognizes four staff members who exemplify outstanding and meritorious service. Nominations are invited for those individuals whose character, conduct and actions amplify certain L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P qualities. Individual award winners receive a $1,000 cash prize.
Hudson is in his 17th year as a head coach for the Lady Topper volleyball program. During that time, he has led WKU to seven Sun Belt East Division Championships and three Sun Belt Tournament Championships as well as five NCAA Tournament appearances. This season, Hudson has guided the Lady Toppers to a 17-2 overall record and a No. 26 national ranking, the highest in program history.
The award is sponsored by the WKU Alumni Association and was started in 2000. Winners are selected by a committee made up of representatives of each major division of the university.
