Bowling Green, Ky. - For Western Kentucky University track and field athlete Michelle Finn, a summer at home in Cork, Ireland has meant more than rest and relaxation... it has meant championships.
Since winning the Sun Belt Conference steeplechase title at the league outdoor meet in May, Finn has returned home and continued the championship effort. On June 27th, Finn won the steeplechase at the U-23 Championships of Ireland, and this past weekend, she took runner-up honors in the Senior Championships of Ireland, clocking a time of 11:17.17.
"I am glad to see Michelle is continuing her steeple success at home," says Michelle Scott, WKU's women's distance coach and also a native of Cork. "National championship medals are hard to come by and I am sure her club and her family are very proud."
Finn will return state-side in a few weeks as the Lady Topper make preparations for the cross country season, where the team will be attempting to win its fifth-straight SBC team title.
