Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University junior defensive back Mark Santoro was named to the ESPN Academic All-District IV football team on Thursday.
 With the honor - which is presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) - Santoro is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. The Greer, S.C., product was a second-team all-district selection in 2009.
 After starting all 12 games in 2009, Santoro has been sidelined by an injury sustained against Indiana back on Sept. 19. He has recorded 18 total tackles in three games this season, and was also credited with a fumble recovery. Seven of those tackles came against Kentucky. He was also credited with six stops against IU before his injury.
 Santoro finished with 91 total tackles last season, which ranked second on the team.
